Six Hours. Plenty of Time to Fish.

Calling it a half-day charter doesn’t mean cutting the fishing experience short.

You’ll have six hours aboard the Rainisong as the captain and crew take you to productive fishing grounds around Seward. Our experienced captains consider seasonal patterns, current fishing conditions and recent activity to determine where to fish and which species offer the best opportunities that day.

The shorter trip also gives you flexibility. Fish from 6:00 AM to noon and spend the afternoon exploring Seward. Or enjoy your morning and meet us at the harbor for a 1:00 PM departure.
Either way, you get a real Alaska fishing charter with time left in your day.

Fish for Silver Salmon & Rockfish

Seward’s waters provide opportunities for several species throughout the summer, but silver salmon and rockfish are the primary targets of our half-day charter.

Silver Salmon

coho salmon

Silver salmon, also known as coho salmon, are prized for their aggressive strikes and hard fights. As the summer run develops, silvers move toward Resurrection Bay and become one of Seward’s most popular sportfish.

Their availability and fishing locations change throughout the season, so the crew follows the fish and adjusts the day’s approach accordingly.

Rockfish

Rockfish give anglers another opportunity to put fish on the line. Several species inhabit the rocky structure and deeper waters around Seward, and fishing for them can provide consistent action.

What you can catch and keep depends on the fishing location and current regulations. The crew will explain the rules that apply on the day of your charter.

More Room to Enjoy the Day

A six-hour charter is a lot more enjoyable when you have room to move around.

The Rainisong is 65 feet long and 20 feet wide, with plenty of deck space for fishing and comfortable indoor seating when you want to get out of the weather.

The heated cabin gives you a warm place to relax between fishing spots, and two clean bathrooms make the boat particularly comfortable for families and groups.

The Rainisong’s size and stability also provide a different experience from fishing aboard a smaller charter boat. You can get out on deck when it’s time to fish, then head inside, sit down and warm up when you need a break.
